Abidal set to leave hospital

Barcelona defender Eric Abidal will be discharged from hospital on Monday, 40 days after undergoing surgery, according to reports.

The Frenchman underwent a liver transplant at the Hospital Barcaclinic on April 10 and has since been working on his recovery.

Abidal has now been given the green light to leave the hospital, and will continue his rehabilitation at home with his family, El Mundo Deportivo says.

The former Lyon player underwent surgery in March 2011 to remove a tumour on his liver.

He returned to match fitness in time to feature in last year's Champions League final win over Manchester United.
