Copa Libertadores wrap: Wins for Santos, Fluminense

Brazilian powerhouses Santos and Fluminense sealed their spots in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores on Thursday.

Universidad de Chile also progressed, overcoming a 4-1 first-leg deficit to defeat Ecuador's Deportivo Quito 6-0.

Neymar scored two and set up five others in Santos's 8-0 rout of Bolivar, comfortably overturning a 2-1 first leg defeat.

The Brazilian prodigy, who has been linked to several high-profile European clubs, scored his 105th and 106th career goals with Santos, becoming the team's top scorer in the post-Pele era.

Santos raced out to a 5-0 lead before half-time, and increased their advantage to 8-0 with Elano and Ganso also scoring braces.

They will now face Velez Sarsfield in the quarter-finals, after the Argentinean club defeated Atletico Nacional 2-1 on aggregate earlier this week.

Fluminese are also through to the next round, although they had to work much harder for their victory against Internacional.

After a 0-0 first-leg result away, Fluminense went a goal down at home after 13 minutes when Internacional striker Leandro Damiao slotted home.

Yet Fluminense immediately struck back when defender Leandro headed home two minutes later.

They then hit the lead just before the break through Fred, who also headed home to give the home side a 2-1 buffer.

The score remained the same in the second half as the 2011 Campeonato Carioca runners-up progressed to the last eight.

Meanwhile, Universidad de Chile routed Deportivo Quito 6-0 in a comprehensive display at home.

Goals to Diaz and Mena were bookended by doubles to strikers Fernandez and Iturra as the Chilean club ran out 7-4 aggregate winners.

They will play Paraguayan club Libertad the quarter-finals, which kick off on May 15.
