Ligue 1 wrap: Montpellier reclaim top spot
Montpellier returned to top spot in Ligue 1 after beating Rennes 2-0, moving three points ahead of second-placed Paris Saint-Germain.
After PSG claimed top spot with a thrilling 4-3 victory at Valenciennes on Sunday, Rene Girard's side were under pressure to collect all three points at Stade de Lorient.
The visitors were full of attacking impetus from the outset and went ahead through striker Souleymane Camara, who atoned for a penalty miss in last week's draw with Evian to put his side ahead in the 26th minute.
The lead was doubled early in the second half through a Benoit Costil own-goal after Remy Cabella's long-range effort came back off the post and struck the goalkeeper before bouncing into the net.
The victory secures Montpellier's place at the summit of the league table with two matches remaining.
Lille extended their recent run of good form with a comfortable 3-0 over Caen, who continue to hover above the relegation zone.
Lille broke the deadlock after 26 minutes when the in-form Eden Hazard was fouled inside the box, with Brazilian forward Tulio de Melo stepping up to calmly convert the penalty.
Tulio doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a powerful header from Hazard's cross.
Rudi Garcia's men wrapped up the win at Stadium Lille Metropole when Hazard set up Dimitri Payet, who slotted home a good strike past Alexis Thebaux.
Bordeaux kept up the chase for a Europa League berth while leaving Auxerre in relegation trouble with a 4-2 victory at Stade de l'Abbe Deschamps.
The visitors came out firing and were 2-0 ahead inside the opening five minutes thanks to a Yann Gouffran brace.
Bordeaux continued to surge forward and extended their lead on eight minutes through Ludovic Sane.
Jaroslav Plasil made it 4-0 just after the interval before Olivier Kapo scored twice late on to reduce the margin.
The result leaves Auxerre at the bottom of the table, two points shy of safety.
Sochaux took full advantage of their relegation rivals' defeat, climbing out of the bottom three with a 1-0 victory over Nice at Stade Bonal.
Sebastien Roudet scored the priceless winner for the victors with five minutes remaining, as Eric Hely's side moved out of the drop zone for the first time since December.
In other matches, Saint Etienne and Marseille played out a 0-0 draw, while there were also scoreless results in Dijon's visit to Lorient and Toulouse's home clash with Nice.
