Juve director re-visits Scudetti saga

7 May 2012 09:52

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has re-opened the can of worms over the number of Scudetti won by the club.

Marotta claimed Juve have won 30 league titles rather than the 28 Scudetti that appear on official records.

The Bianconeri were stripped of their 2005 and 2006 titles because of their involvement in the Calciopoli scandal, but Marotta stressed that Juve see this year's title as their 30th success.

"It’s our 30th title as far as we’re concerned, and it's the reward of all the work done by everyone at the club, starting from (club president) Andrea Agnelli," Marotta told the club's official website.

"It’s everyone’s title, but above all Antonio Conte’s. He’s the true added value and has improved the work started last year. The team have fully responded to his management."

Juventus secured the Serie A title on Sunday by beating Cagliari 2-0, while title rivals AC Milan lost 4-2 against Inter.

Juve meet Atalanta in their last league game of the season on Sunday, before taking on Napoli in the final of the Coppa Italia one week later.
