Rummenigge warns Barcelona off Alaba

5 May 2012 15:05

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has told Barcelona in no uncertain terms that they can forget about trying to sign David Alaba.

The Austria international has become an important member of the Allianz Arena outfit's squad, with his versatility used this season to plug gaps in midfield and at left-back.

Reports in Spain have stated that the European champions are readying a 12-million-euro bid for the 19-year-old in the off-season, but the Bundesliga giants have made it clear that they do not want to sell.

"We do not sell players, and certainly not David Alaba, who will play a major role in the future of Bayern. Barcelona can save the 20 cent phone charge to Munich," Rummenigge told Kurier.

Alaba was asked about the link to the Spanish powerhouses, but admitted to being happy at Jupp Heynckes' side.

"I've never heard of it. It's an honour and a dream to be associated with Barcelona, but I'm very happy at Bayern," he said.

Alaba will not play in the Champions League final against Chelsea on May 19th, as he is suspended.
