Report: Leverkusen set to sack Dutt

26 March 2012 18:22

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly on the verge of sacking coach Robin Dutt after their 2-0 loss to Schalke on Saturday.

The encounter at Gelsenkirchen presented Dutt's team with a chance to keep their chances of qualifying for the Champions League alive.

But with his side now 11 points behind fourth-placed Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, Express reports Dutt will be released from his contract at season's end.

While chief executive Wolfgang Holzhauser and sporting director Rudi Voller have been unwilling to criticise Dutt, reports emerged earlier this season the players were unsettled.

Leverkusen have reportedly lined up ex-Schalke boss Ralf Rangnick to take over as head coach for next season.

However, the report also said if Leverkusen lose to Freiburg on Saturday, Dutt will be replaced immediately.
