Custodio happy for Portugal fans

22 June 2012 22:52

Portugal midfielder Custodio says the support his team have received from their nation is the highlight of the Euro 2012 campaign.

Paulo Bento's men on Thursday became the first side to enter the last four, sealing their place with a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's header.

Speaking after the Portuguese victory, Sporting Braga star Custodio revealed that for him the most important part of the team's success was making their loyal fans proud.

"The key was to win and secure that place in the semi-finals. We are all happy with that, the Portuguese people must also be proud and that for us is vital," he said.

"The humility, team spirit, talent and quality (in this side) is enormous."

The 29-year-old former Dynamo Moscow man is a new addition to the Portugal squad, having made his debut during a defeat to Turkey in June, and has three international caps.
