Advocaat: Same again from Russia

11 June 2012 23:20

Russia coach Dick Advocaat has indicated that he will stick with the same system for their upcoming match against Poland.

The Russians started their Euro 2012 campaign with a resounding a 4-1 victory against Czech Republic and Advocaat does not see any reason to change his formula going into Tuesday's contest.

"We are going to try and play our own game and Poland will try to defend themselves against it," the Dutch coach told reporters.

"We want to play attacking football, and against the Czechs it went really well sometimes and then sometimes it did not work.

"The only thing I can say is that there is no reason to make any changes."

Russia sit at the top of Group A, two points ahead of Greece and Poland, but Advocaat is taking nothing for granted when asked if he thought that his side were favourites to finish in first place.

"We have only played one game," he said.

"We will see how it goes. We will see how the next two matches go.

"It was important to win the first game, but that match is done and we have to play well tomorrow."

The PSV-bound coach then gave short shrift to a question about whether he would be satisfied with a draw against the Euro 2012 co-hosts, saying: "I do not think so."
