International friendly wrap: Mexico beat Bosnia, France unbeaten

1 June 2012 14:23

Javier Hernandez netted a late winner as Mexico snatched a 2-1 victory in a friendly international with Bosnia on Thursday.

Manchester United forward Hernandez, who entered the encounter at Chicago's Soldier Field as a substitute in the 61st minute, landed the decisive blow in second-half injury-time after Edin Dzeko had earlier cancelled out Giovani Dos Santos' opener for the hosts.

The Mexicans quickly asserted themselves in the contest and took the lead six minutes in when Bosnia goalkeeper Asmir Begovic parried into the path of Dos Santos.

Edin Dzeko levelled in the 29th minute, the Manchester City striker passing goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa in a one-on-one duel before slotting home an angled shot.

Mexico dominated the majority of the second half but were thwarted in their attempts to penetrate a stubborn Bosnian defence.

The pressure told in the 92nd minute when Hernandez, in typically opportunistic fashion, pounced on a botched clearance from Stojan Vranjes before poking the ball into the net after a goalmouth scramble.

In Reims, goals from Franck Ribery and Florent Malouda saw France ease to a 2-0 win over Serbia.

Ribery took just 11 minutes to open the scoring for the hosts at the Stade Auguste-Delaune, before Malouda added a second four minutes later.

France went close to scoring a third on a number of occasions but were denied by some inspired goalkeeping from Serbia custodian Zeljko Brkic.

Germany also rounded out their Euro 2012 preparations with a 2-0 victory, which came at the expense of Israel.

A clinical finish from Mario Gomez gave Joachim Loew's side the lead just before the half-time break at Leipzig's Red Bull Arena.

Substitute Andre Schuerrle put the match beyond doubt eight minutes from time after curling home a sumptuous effort from outside the area.

Greece were less convincing in their final warm-up ahead of the UEFA showpiece, with Fernando Santos' side labouring to a 1-0 win at Kufstein Arena in the Austrian city of Tyrol.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos' first-half header separated the sides in a match which saw Armenian goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky save second-half penalties from Georgios Samaras and Kostas Katsouranis.
