Internacional and Vasco da Gama played a 0-0 draw in Brazil Serie A in Beira-Rio on Saturday, as Diego Forlan made his debut for the hosts.

Uruguayan Forlan - who signed a three-year deal with the Brazilian club after his stint with Serie A club Inter Milan - started at the Estadio Jose Pinheiro Borda, before being substituted after 68 minutes.

The draw saw Internacional stay fifth on 23 points, while Vasco missed the chance to go top and remain one point behind leaders Atletico Mineiro, and the latter have a game in hand.

Coritiba stretched their unbeaten run to four games, and made it back-to-back wins, with a 2-1 win over fourth-placed Gremio.

A 90th-minute goal to Leonardo saw the home side nab all three points at the Estadio Major Antonio Couto Pereira, after Coritiba's Ayrton scored the opener which was cancelled out by an Andre Lima strike.

Botafogo ended a losing run of two matches with a 1-0 win over bottom side Figueirense, who finished with 10 men.

Andrezinho scored the winner for Botafogo on the hour-mark, before Pablo received a second yellow for the visitors on 78 minutes at the Estadio Olimpico Joao Havelange.

The win saw Botafogo go sixth, three points shy of Internacional.
