Adriano Galliani has confirmed AC Milan have made an offer for Montpellier centre-back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
The Serie A giants are in the market for defensive reinforcements due to the departure of Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the exit of veteran Alessandro Nesta.
They have made the signing of the 23-year-old Yanga-Mbiwa their top priority, chief executive Galliani said on Friday.
"We have made an offer and we'll travel to Montpellier shortly. We'll see what happens. It's a matter of money," Galliani told
La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Yanga-Mbiwa has a contract with Montpellier until 2013, but AC Milan hope an offer in the region of seven million euros will be enough to lure the defender away from the Ligue 1 champions.
It is understood AC Milan have already agreed terms with the centre-back over a five-year deal worth 1.5 million euros per season.
