Pandev: Mazzarri can bring Scudetto to Napoli
Goran Pandev has likened Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri to Jose Mourinho, and believes he can lead the club to major honours.
Macedonia international Pandev finalised a transfer to Napoli in June, after spending last season at the Stadio San Paolo from Inter Milan.
Pandev has said he was only too happy to commit his future to Napoli, because he feels the club are capable of great things if Mazzarri remains at the helm.
The coach's future has been the subject of much debate since Napoli's Coppa Italia success over Juve in May.
"I'm saying that we can win the title right away," Pandev told Gazzetta dello Sport
"The favorites are always Juventus, AC Milan and Inter, but we can do it and if the coach stays with us in the coming years, we can win (the) Coppa Italia, the Scudetto and Champions League.
"Mazzarri is like Mourinho because he has the group in hand, and a great group at that: we play from memory and people enjoy (watching) us."
Pandev was a member of the Inter side which won a treble Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League under Mourinho in 2010.
And he feels the biggest similarity between the Portuguese coach and Mazzarri is the way they are both able to motivate their troops to do anything for the cause.
"(Mourinho) writes to me and always gives me advice," Pandev said.
"He remains bound to his players even if he is not training them anymore.
"For him I even played fullback in the (2010) Champions League final against Bayern (Munich), in the first leg (of the last 16) against Chelsea in London, and in Milan against Barcelona (in the semi-finals).
"Should he ask me to do it, I'd also do the same for Mazzarri."
Pandev, who has been capped 64 times by his country, netted six times in Serie A last season.
