Cuenca keen to play for Vilanova

15 July 2012 15:46

Isaac Cuenca is confident that he still has a role to play at Barcelona under coach Tito Vilanova.

The 21-year-old made his first team debut at the Catalan side under Pep Guardiola last term, and the youngster has been assured that the change of coaches this off-season will not affect his situation.

"Every coach is different. They all want a certain kind of player, but Tito has said he's counting on me, so I'm happy," Cuenca told the club's official website.

Cuenca is currently recovering from a knee injury that kept him out of Spain's under-23 side going to the London Olympics, and he is determined to return to full match fitness.

"The most important thing is for my knee to get better. I hope to be fit as soon as possible and be able to help the team play some good games," he said.

Cuenca netted twice in 16 La Liga appearances last term for Barcelona.
