Wilshere escapes ban for Frimpong bet

Injured Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has been officially warned after breaking UEFA betting regulations.
The midfielder – who is still suffering with an injury after missing large parts of last season – has been given a formal warning for bringing the integrity of the game into disrepute.
The issue relates to a Champions League match in December, when Wilshere said on his official Twitter page that Emmanuel Frimpong was 'worth a cheeky 10 pounds' to open the scoring at odds of 150-1 during their tie with Olympiakos.
The England international was not involved in the match due to injury.
Wilshere later added: 'Frimmy nearly won me some money there!' as Frimpong hit a shot into the side-netting with the score still goalless.
According to official UEFA guidelines, a player is not able to bet on his own team. A player found guilty of breaching betting rules could face a hefty fine and even a ban.
"The player has been warned for being in breach of the principles of integrity of matches and competitions," a UEFA spokesperson said.
"The disciplinary measure was a warning."
The 20-year-old is no longer on Twitter after closing his official account last month. Both tweets were deleted later that day.
