Inter Milan are reportedly poised to sign Fredy Guarin from Porto, casting doubt over the future of Thiago Motta at San Siro.
According to Sky Sport 24, Inter will pay an initial 1.5 million euros to take Colombia international Guarin on loan until the end of the season, with a view to signing the player on a permanent transfer in June for 11 million euros.
Guarin had also been linked with Juventus in recent weeks.
But the Serie A leaders' acquisition of Uruguay defender Martin Caceres from Sevilla on Friday means they have no room left in their squad for another non-European Union player.
Consequently, Guarin now appears bound for San Siro.
That could mean Paris Saint-Germain target Thiago Motta, who was left out of the Inter squad for Sunday's clash with Lecce, could well be on his way to the French capital before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night.
Guarin is under contract at Porto until 2014 but has become increasingly frustrated by a lack of game time at the Estadio do Dragao this season.
