Goals from Rodrigo Machado and Pablo Aimar helped Liga Sagres leaders Benfica defeat Gil Vicente 3-1 on Sunday, while Porto also won.
Paraguayan forward Oscar Cardozo put hosts Benfica ahead 27 minutes into the match at Estadio da Luz, with Rodrigo Galo equalising five minutes before the break.
His Benfica namesake Rodrigo scored to restore the home side's lead on 72 minutes.
Aimar then added a third to put the result beyond doubt with 16 minutes to go.
The win keeps Benfica top with 42 points, two ahead of Porto, who defeated Vitoria Guimaraes 3-1 at home.
Rolando opened the scoring for Porto in the 19th minute at Estadio do Dragao, and Joao Moutinho added a second on 46 minutes.
Abdelghani Faouzi pulled one back for Vitoria just before the hour mark, but James Rodriguez restored the two-goal margin from the penalty spot with 13 minutes to go.
Braga kept pace with the top two thanks to a 2-1 win at home to Rio Ave.
Both of the home side's goals arrived in a four-minute spell just before the break at Estadio AXA, with Douglao and then Helder Barbosa finding the back of the net.
Midfielder Braga got one back from the penalty spot in the 90th minute for Rio Ave, to no avail.
Bottom side Pacos de Ferreira recorded their first victory in eight leagues matches, coming from behind to snatch a dramatic 2-1 win at home to Vitoria Setubal.
The away side led through Rafael Lopes' goal in the 82nd minute, with Manuel Jose levelling for the hosts just two minutes later.
Jose then struck from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to claim three crucial points for the strugglers.
Finally, goals from Dejan Skolnik and Moreno saw Nacional run out 2-0 winners in their match at home to Feirense.
