Paolo Maldini has criticised former club AC Milan and also took a swipe at Juventus as the teams prepare to meet in Serie A.
Maldini, 43, has previously been tipped to join Milan's coaching staff, but the retired Italy international defender poured cold water on rumours of a potential return to Milanello.
"I don't think I'll go back to Milan," he told Corriere dello Sport.
"I am seen as a problem because I have an independent mind."
"The club's choices are perfectly legitimate, but let us avoid hypocrisy. They said 'he's one of us and is always welcome,' but that's not the truth."
Serie A champions Milan head into Saturday's top-of-the-table clash a point clear of Antonio Conte's Juve at the summit of Italy's top flight.
Maldini saw fit to criticise the Turin club, with their coach Antonio Conte and sporting director Pavel Nedved recently complaining about the percieved reluctance of Serie A referees to award Juventus penalties.
"As for Juventus, they need to stay calm as whining about every half-shout for a penalty isn't the kind of thing a big club does," Maldini said.
"In order to beat them, you need pace."
"Had I been at Milan, I wouldn't have let Andrea Pirlo join Juventus, as he should have gone abroad to Chelsea."
"Tonight's game could be decisive for the Scudetto, if only in psychological terms."
