Sergio Batista would rather see Pep Guardiola remain in charge of Barcelona than be offered the chance to take over as coach at Camp Nou.
Guardiola is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to give any indication as to whether he will sign another one-year extension with the club.
Batista said it would be a dream to take over at Barca one day, but the former Argentina coach would prefer Guardiola continues his remarkable tenure in charge of the Catalan side.
"I wish I could train Barcelona," Batista told COMRadio.
"I wish I could direct (Lionel) Messi at Barcelona."
"One always feels willing and able to lead a team like Barcelona. But I would like Guardiola to carry on because I am in love with the football he has produced."
"Football has to be played the way that Barcelona play it. I'm a big fan of Barcelona. I do not miss any of their matches."
"Guardiola is one of the best coaches in football history; he has proven this on the field. He has done it all. He is a great coach and I hope that he stays at Barcelona."
Batista was appointed Argentina coach in July 2010, but left the position 12 months later following after the team's disappointing showing on home soil in the Copa America.
