Vasco da Gama striker Alecsandro has heaped praise on team-mate Juninho Pernambucano.

The former Lyon midfielder Juninho rejoined the Brazilian outfit last April from Al-Gharafa following a two-year stint in Qatar, and his return has been met with gratitude from the 31-year-old attacker Alecsandro.

"Juninho has had a brilliant career in football and his free kicks have always been a strong point," Alecsandro told Globoesporte.

"When I see him go to take one, I prepare for two things: I either run to celebrate, or I position myself for the rebound."

"You also need to know the right time to run towards the ball and hope that you hit the top-right corner."

Juninho, a former Brazil international who represented his country at the 2006 World Cup, is best known for his spell in France with Lyon, where 44 of his 100 goals came via free-kicks.
