Copa Libertadores wrap: Narrow wins for Libertad, Godoy Cruz

Libertad put together a great second half to beat Nacional 2-1 and move to the top of Group 5 of the Copa Libertadores.

The two sides went into Thursday's game level on points but it was the visitors from Paraguay who took the spoils, winning their fifth consecutive game in all competitions.

Hosts Nacional took the lead in the 20th minute through Marcos Aguirre but Libertad equalised 13 minutes into the second half after a rapid counter attack that required just four passes to cover the entire field.

Rodolfo Gamarra provided the final pass to Miguel Samudio and the 25-year-old slid the ball under the advancing goalkeeper to score.

Libertad claimed victory six minutes later thanks to a powerful long-range goal from substitute Mauro Caballero.

In the other Copa Libertadores match on Thursday, Argentine-club Godoy Cruz made it a day of defeats for Uruguayan clubs with a 1-0 win over Penarol.

The only goal of the game came in the 52nd minute when midfielder Diego Villar scored for the home side.

A flowing move down the left wing ended in a cross, which was flicked on at the near post.

Villar timed his run perfectly to volley the ball past Penarol goalkeeper Fabian Carini into the roof of the net and win the game for Godoy Cruz.
