Copa final should avoid Bernabeu, says Guti

Former Real Madrid playmaker Guti has stated that the Copa del Rey final should never be played at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish FA (RFEF) is set to announce the venue for the final, which is be contested between Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona, and the 35-year-old feels it should not take place in Madrid.

"The Copa del Rey final should never be at the Bernabeu," the former Besiktas man wrote on Twitter.

"Why couldn't Real Madrid play against Zaragoza at Camp Nou (in 1993)?"

"Why do Madrid always have to give?"

"We are gentlemen, but at some point we have to think of ourselves and decide because the Bernabeu is ours."

Last season, the competition's final - contested by Barcelona and Real Madrid - was held at Mestalla.
