Valdano: Barca need Van Persie

Former Real Madrid director Jorge Valdano believes Barcelona need Arsenal's Robin Van Persie more than Jose Mourinho's team.

Netherlands international Van Persie has a contract with Arsenal until the end of the 2012/13 season, but has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners' skipper has been tipped to join either Barca or Real, but Valdano feels it is the Camp Nou outfit which has more use for such reinforcement.

"Van Persie is needed more at Barcelona than at Real Madrid in my opinion. Madrid are already pretty close to having a perfect squad," Valdano said to El Larguero.

Former Feyenoord man Van Persie, 28, has been in superb form for Arsenal in 2011/12, scoring 22 goals in 24 English Premier League appearances.
