Former Ajax and Barcelona forward Patrick Kluivert has tipped Twente's Luuk de Jong to become the Netherlands' first-choice striker.
De Jong, 21, has already made six appearances and scored one goal for Bert van Marwijk's national team.
Kluivert found the net 40 times in 79 outings for the Netherlands before retiring from international duty in 2004.
Now a member of Twente's coaching staff, he believes De Jong is well on the way to emulating that impressive record.
"He's getting the perfect guidance to develop into a real star in Europe at Twente," Kluivert told Nusport.nl.
"I consider him to be the future number nine (centre-forward) of the Dutch national side."
De Jong has been linked with a move to the English Premier League, with clubs such as Liverpool and Newcastle United believed to be in the hunt for his signature.
And the former De Graafschap man has hinted he is considering a switch to England's top flight.
