Juan Arango and Borussia Moenchengladbach have reached an agreement over a contract extension, the club announced on their official website.
Arango, 31, has played an integral role in his team's surprise success in the 2011/12 Bundesliga, and with his previous deal set to expire at the end of the season, his future had appeared uncertain.
But on Friday, Gladbach announced the Venezuela international has agreed a two-year extension, contracting him to the club until 2014.
"Juan Arango is one of the best midfielders in the league and is a very important character for us," Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl told the club's website.
"Therefore we are very pleased that we could tie him to us for two more years."
Gladbach received two hefty blows in January, as stars Marco Reus and Roman Neustadter confirmed their departures at the end of the campaign.
Defender Dante may also leave due to a buy-out clause in his contract.
Gladbach, fourth in the Bundesliga standings, meet third-placed Schalke at home on Saturday.
