Benitez denies rift with Oscar

19 December 2012 12:17

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has praised Oscar's professionalism after he was dropped for the Club World Cup Final.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a positive start to his career at Stamford Bridge but was disheartened by the snub that left him on the bench for the Corinthians match in Japan but the former Liverpool manager believes there is no rift between himself and the player.

"Oscar is fine. He's a very good professional. We don't have any issue with him," Benitez told reporters.

"I try to manage players, especially in his position because we have Eden Hazard and Juan Mata, who can do more or less the same job.

"It's difficult for them but it's good for me because I have different problems. There are no issues or problems."

The 21-year-old has only started in three of the seven games that Benitez has taken charge of since the sudden dismissal of Roberto Di Matteo last month.

"Oscar will have a lot of time on the pitch and I'm sure he'll be a great player for the club," he added.

"Oscar's not happy because he's not playing and that's fantastic. There would be a problem if it was the opposite."
