Lambert hopes Norwich obsession ends

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is becoming sick and tired of what he calls the 'obsession' of Norwich supporters with him.

Lambert guided Norwich from League One to Premier League safety before departing Carrow Road for Villa Park in the summer.

His Norfolk exit has been clouded by a legal dispute, however, with both Lambert and the club claiming breach of contract, which has soured his relationship with the Norwich supporters.

Many anticipate a hostile reception for the former Scotland international ahead of the League Cup quarter-final tie between the two clubs on Tuesday, but he claims that he is focused on winning the clash and thinks the home fans should concentrate on supporting new boss Chris Hughton.

"I hope they concentrate on Chris because, if not, the obsession keeps on continuing with myself," Lambert said.

"It's his club, it's his team now. People will make more of it than I actually will. I'll just get on with it.

"It's another game for me. You would like to think that the sensible ones would maybe think 'you done all right'.

"But I know I might get stick. With the things that are going on people probably don't know exactly what has happened."

Norwich are unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions and sit in 12th place in the Premier League, while Lambert's Villa team are just two points above the relegation zone.
