Prandelli: Conte ban sufficient

13 August 2012 17:09

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli believes Antonio Conte should be allowed access to his Juventus players despite a 10-month touchline ban.

Conte, 43, received the suspension after being found guilty of failing to report instances of match-fixing during his time in charge of Siena, but the ban applies only to the dugout and dressing room on match days.

Roma coach Zdenek Zeman said on Sunday "a coach with a long ban shouldn't be able to train his team".

But Prandelli, speaking ahead of his team's international friendly against England on Wednesday, feels Conte's punishment is sufficient.

"I cannot see why Conte should not be able to take training," former Juve player Prandelli said.

"The disqualification of 10 months is already heavy enough."

Conte's assistant Massimo Carrera took charge of Juve's Supercoppa Italiana clash with Napoli on Saturday, as they emerged 4-2 victors following extra-time.
