Determined Rangers sign trio

7 August 2012 18:23

Newco Rangers showed their determination to bounce back quickly by signing three players on Tuesday.

Free agents Emilson Cribari, Kevin Kyle and Francisco Sandaza all joined the club as it continues to rebuild.

Sandaza netted 14 league goals in 26 appearances for St Johnstone last season, while ex-Lazio and Udinese defender Emilson joined after his contract expired with Brazilian outfit Cruzeiro.

Kyle, a 31-year-old striker, has signed a one-year deal.

Sandaza is delighted to have finally completed his move to the Ibrox, and could make his debut at home to East Fife on Tuesday.

"I'm delighted to finally come here and to play for this great club," Sandaza told reporters.

"I wanted to come in January but that didn't happen.

"I'm happy that it's done now and I can’t wait to start playing for this team. I had long holidays and I didn’t think I would come back to Scotland but it seems it was my destiny.

"When I arrived four years ago I didn't speak any English but I knew I wanted to play for a big club like this, at Ibrox in front of a full stadium."

Emilson, 32, has enjoyed a 16-year career, based predominantly in Italy, and also spoke of his delight at completing the switch.

"I am very happy to be here," he told reporters.

"I got a very good impression when I spoke with the manager and the stadium and the training facilities are excellent.

"The club is famous in my country because it has such a strong history so it was an easy decision for me to make when I had the chance to sign.

Meanwhile, Kyle has endured an injury-ravaged 18 months and left Hearts in the summer after two years with the SPL outfit, but is eager to make the most of his new opportunity.

"There is only one attraction, and I'm sure that's the same for all the signings: this is Rangers, it doesn't get any bigger than this," he told the club's official website.

"It's a massive opportunity and there aren't many people who get a chance like this in Scotland.

"When it came to me I had to pinch myself. When I got in here for a week I told myself I was going to work so hard and prove that I can do a job here.

"That's worked out and I've signed a one-year deal. The aim now is to do well this season and hopefully the manager comes knocking on my door to extend that.

"I'm hungry and I have a desire to do well here. I have some unfinished business but at the end of the day the attraction was Rangers.

"Regardless of whether it's the third division or the Dog and Duck Sunday League it's still Rangers and it's a great opportunity to play here."
