Heskey rejects Blackpool move

6 August 2012 18:11

Emile Heskey has turned down the chance to play in the Championship with Blackpool.

Manager Ian Holloway has confirmed that the potential move is now 'dead and buried'.

The out-of-contract striker has been looking for a new employer since leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season, and has been training with former club Wigan in recent weeks.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a move to a host of second-tier clubs, including Blackburn, Ipswich and Hull City throughout the summer transfer window.

But Tangerines manager Holloway has revealed that his efforts to sign the former England international during his time in the North West have failed.

"Unfortunately he has got other things in the pipeline and he is not interested in coming to us. So that is dead and buried," he told reporters.

Heskey made 72 appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions, scoring 15 goals.
