Cardiff announce Helguson capture

Cardiff City have confirmed the signing of Heidar Helguson from Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

The Icelandic forward has penned terms on a one-year deal with the Welsh side after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical on Thursday.

The 34-year-old striker enjoyed an impressive season with QPR in the English Premier League last season, netting eight goals in 16 appearances.

But the opportunity to play regular first-team football has proved too tough to resist for Helguson, who counts Watford, Fulham and Bolton as former clubs.
