Al Kamali tipped to break through

2 August 2012 06:28

UAE Olympic hero Hamdan Al Kamali can still make it in Europe, his Al Wahda coach Branko Ivankovic said.

Al Kamali was part of the UAE side whose 2012 Olympic run came to a close on Tuesday with a 1-1 draw against Senegal ending an admirable campaign where they impressed many onlookers with their style.

Speaking to Sport360, Ivankovic backed Al Kamali - who is likely to return to Al Wahda after his six-month loan stint at Olympique Lyonnais - to succeed in Europe following his impressive Olympic performances but said he should stay in UAE for one more season.

"He went to Lyon, but maybe because Lyon are one of the best clubs in Europe it is perhaps not easy to establish yourself," former Iran coach Ivankovic said.

"He should maybe find a better solution, but first of all he should play a good season here in the Emirates and then everything is open for him.

"Especially when they start qualification for the next competitions with the national team, he can show his quality on an international level.

"He showed he can play international football (at the Olympics), of course he should prepare himself and he should work on himself and prepare himself to go maybe to another club, but not now."
