Laudrup happy with Olympic trio

1 August 2012 13:50

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is delighted that three of his players are involved at the London Olympics.

While Joe Allen seems likely to leave Swansea to play under former manager Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, Laudrup is still thrilled that the 22-year-old Welshman as well as Scott Sinclair and Neal Taylor are playing for Team GB.

Laudrup believes it is a great sign for Swansea, considering their standing in the Premier League.

"It's great because Swansea are one of the smaller clubs in the Premier League," he said.

"We are not Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea or Arsenal so it's great to have three players from an egotistical point of view."

Laudrup and the rest of his squad are in the US for a two-match tour.

Swansea drew their final match of the tour with the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 and while Laudrup had to do without Allen, Sinclair and Taylor, the Danish manager remains convinced it is good for the club.

"I can't have them here with me even though I would like too," Laudrup said.

"But I'm happy for them and I'm happy for the club too because it's good for the image of Swansea to have three players (at the Olympics)."
