Xhaka bound for Bundesliga

20 April 2012 16:55

Basel midfielder Granit Xhaka has revealed that he is likely to join Borussia Monchengladbach in the off-season.

The 19-year-old caught the eye during the Swiss side's unlikely run to the Champions League round-of-16, and with Roman Neustadter set to join Schalke, Lucien Favre's team will be short of options in midfield.

"Personally, I have nothing to hide," Xhaka told Basler Zeitung.

"For me, everything is settled. Now it's up to the clubs to decide."

Although the two teams have yet to reach an agreement, the German side are rumoured to have bid 6.5 million euros for the Switzerland international's services but Basel are holding out for 10 million.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen forward Eren Derdiyok has also emerged as a transfer target for 'Gladbach, according to Express.

The 23-year-old has been identified as a replacement for Marco Reus, who will move to Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

Derdiyok is said to be unhappy with his current contract at the BayArena, and would likely cost Gladbach about eight million euros.
