Klopp hails history-making run

16 April 2012 16:51

Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp has hailed his team's fine run of form, which lifted them to two key victories in the last week.

The 44-year-old has led Dortmund to the brink of their second successive Bundesliga title, with wins against Bayern Munich and Ruhr rivals Schalke putting them eight points clear atop the table. And in reaction, he spared no compliment for his side.

"These past seven days have been among the most important in the club's history," Klopp told Bild.

In particular, he praised goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller for keeping a clean sheet against Bayern last Wednesday, in a match that ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for Dortmund.

"Weidenfeller's penalty save was the best moment for me," he said. "I still have huge respect for Bayern, though."

The former Mainz coach has now led his side to 25 games without a loss, a record he is astonished with.

"We have been very consistent. But 25 games unbeaten at this stage is incredible."
