Liga Sagres wrap: Sporting sink Uniao

A late Matias Fernandez goal saw Sporting Lisbon take a 1-0 win at Uniao de Leiria in Liga Sagres on Sunday.

The Chile midfielder struck in the 11th minute of additional time to help Ricardo Sa Pinto's men to the win at Estadio Dr Magalhaes Pessoa.

Fernandez's winner helped fifth-placed Sporting Lisbon stay eight points clear of Victoria Guimaraes, while Uniao de Leiria remain in the relegation zone and five points from safety.

Vitoria Guimaraes, continuing their chase for a Europa League place for next season, recorded a 3-1 win at home to Pacos de Ferreira.

Nuno Assis, Bruno Martins Teles and El Arbi Hillel Soudani were on the scoresheet for Rui Vitoria's team, before Michel netted a late consolation for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Ney Santos scored an 83rd-minute winner to guide Vitoria Setubal to a 1-0 win against Gil Vicente.

Nacional were 2-1 winners at Rio Ave, while Beira-Mar moved five points clear of the bottom two with a 3-1 win over Feirense.

Zhang Chengdong and Serginho struck for Beira-Mar, before they had Joaozinho sent off just after the half-hour.

Fonseca had pulled a goal back for the hosts, but Jaime sealed all three points for Ulisses Morais' men with his 79th-minute strike.
