Mourinho: Penalty call was wrong

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho admits the penalty awarded to Cristiano Ronaldo during their 4-2 victory over Getafe was an incorrect call.

Mourinho's side earned a vital second-half penalty went Ronaldo went down in the box after being challenged by the opposition.

However, Mourinho leapt to the defence of his compatriot, claiming Ronaldo does not dive like some of his counterparts, perhaps a veiled criticism of Lionel Messi's attempt to fool the referee against Real Sociedad earlier on Saturday for Barcelona.

"It was not a penalty, but Cristiano does not dive unlike some players," Mourinho said.

Despite the debate surrounding the penalty decision, Mourinho did not forget to credit their opposition, who forced Madrid to work extremely hard for the three points.

"They (Getafe) played very well and we did not. After the penalty, we were better and I think we deserved to win," he said.

Real Madrid's victory means they now go top of La Liga, after Barcelona failed to come out victorious at San Sebastian, drawing 2-2.
