Kuwait aim for second Asian Cup

29 October 2011 05:52

Kuwait SC coach Dragan Talajic insists his side can cover crucial absentees when they face Uzbek club Nasaf Qarshi in Saturday's AFC Cup final.

The Kuwaiti outfit, who lifted the AFC Cup in 2009, will be without midfielders Sami Al Sanea and Jarah Al Ateeqi after picking up bookings in the semi-final second leg against Arbil, while 'flu has hit the camp after making the trip to Uzbekistan.

"We have two suspended players and some injured players and some sick players who got the 'flu when we arrived here to cold weather from hot weather in Kuwait,'' the Croatian told reporters.

"But for our team it is not a big problem since we have enough quality players to play tomorrow and to win."

"I respect Nasaf and I can congratulate (Nasaf coach Anatoliy) Demyanenko with making the final. But we prepare for the final with full strength."

"We will try to show our best game for being winner in this final. And if we want to repeat our success in 2009, we must defeat Nasaf in their home."

"I am glad to participate in this AFC Cup final and there is no difference for me playing wherever in Qarshi, at neutral stadium, or in Kuwait. Anyway, I am sure that we will win tomorrow."

Nasaf boss Demyaneko praised Talajic's impact at Kuwait SC who arrived at the club earlier this year after spells in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

"Kuwait SC has become a strong team with the arrival of Dragan Talajic. We must not let them play out a counterattack," he said.

"Tomorrow will be my first international final. I want to win it. Tomorrow we will do our best to please our fans."

"Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses. We have analysed the game of our opponents and know how they play. We need to concentrate on their game. If we can do this, we will win."
