LA Galaxy beat Columbus Crew in MLS top clash

12 September 2010 14:56

(GSM) - Los Angeles Galaxy are back on the winning track in the Major League Soccer, beating Columbus Crew in Saturday night's top clash.

The two conference leaders faced off at Los Angeles' Home Depot Center, with Edson Buddle putting the home side in the lead after 13 minutes.

Dema Kovalenko doubled the gap in the 35th and Jovan Kirovski made it 3-0 ten minutes after the break. Andres Mendoza pulled one back late on but it was not enough for Columbus to find their way back into the game.

Western Conference leaders Los Angeles now have three points more than the Crew, who currently top the Eastern Conference table. As such, the Galaxy are back on course for the Supporters' Shield.

Earlier on the day, New York Red Bulls beat Colorado Rapids 3-1 to strengthen their position in the Eastern Conference. Thierry Henry, Tim Ream and Dane Richards scored for New York, while only Omar Cummings did so for the visiting side.
