Greece: Panathinaikos, Olympiakos keep pace at the top

(GSM) - Panathinaikos went back to the top of the Greek Super League on Sunday with a 2-0 victory away to Panionios. Olympiakos, meanwhile, reclaimed second spot with a 2-0 win of their own against Atromitos.

It was a pair of goals from French striker Djibril Cissé that broke Panathinaikos' two-match losing skid, helping them hop back over PAOK for first place.

After Panionios conceded a penalty in the 20th minute, Cissé confidently stepped up to the spot to beat goalkeeper Isaac Becerra to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

Cissé bagged his second of the game - and 20th of the Super League season - on 55 minutes to move two points out in front of the standings.

Olympiakos, meanwhile, got strikes from Matt Derbyshire and Kostas Mitroglou to move back into second place in the league.

Englishman Derbyshire bagged his fourth in nine appearances with the Piraeus outfit on 18 minutes to send the home crowd into cheers.

They held on to that lead despite a nice charge from Atromitos, and Mitroglou bagged the second late on to put them ahead of PAOK on goal difference.
