Cagliari tell Arsenal to raise offer for Marchetti

Arsenal will have to step up their bid if they want to sign goalkeeper Federico Marchetti (L) from Cagliari.

(GSM) - Arsenal will have to step up their bid if they want to sign goalkeeper Federico Marchetti from Cagliari.

Datasport says the Gunners have tabled a first bid of €6million for the goalie, who became Italy’s choice at the World Cup after Gianluigi Buffon sustained a back injury.

Cagliari have demanded €9m for Marchetti, but could be convinced to lower their expectations a little further as the shot stopper is hoping to leave the Sardinian club this summer.

“He expressed his desire to leave through the media,” read a statement on the official Cagliari website yesterday.

“The club will do everything to make him happy, so if Marchetti does leave Cagliari, then our first choice will be Michael Agazzi.

“Cagliari are not looking for a different first choice goalkeeper.”
