4 January 2010 12:27

Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery, seen here in July 2009, has been ruled out with a new injury.

(GSM) - Franck Ribery keeps on struggling with fitness problems. The Bayern Munchen midfielder has been haunted by several injuries this season and keeps on struggling with physical complaints in the new year. Ribery had to pull out of Monday's training with a toe injury.

The injury prone Frenchman, who has been subject of many transfer rumours lately, took part in Sunday's training session but bruised his both big toes, ruling him out for Today's training. The 26-year-old France international worked out in the stadium fitness centre instead under the supervision of sports rehab coach Thomas Wilhelmi. It's not sure how long Ribery will remain sidelined.

Ribery suffered from various injuries during the first half of the season and only made seven league appearances so far. However, Bayern wants to keep its star player at the Allianz Arena. The former Olympique Marseille player still has a contract until June 2011 and the Bavarians want to extend Ribery's contract.

Ribery already claimed that he wants to stay, providing that Bayern enters the transfer market. "I would very much like to win the Champions League, but our team probably does not have the quality," he said earlier. "Right now, we cannot compete with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal or Inter Milan. They are stronger."
