Pachuca win CONCACAF Champions League

29 April 2010 05:07

(GSM) - Pachuca have won the CONCACAF Champions League in the most dramatic of manners, scoring the deciding goal three minutes into added time.

Cruz Azul had won their home match 2-1, leaving Pachuca with the task to score at least once and hope for their opponents not to score.

For a long time, it looked like Cruz Azul were going to secure a goalless draw but Pachuca left the best for last as Edgar Benitez put the ball past keeper Corona in the 93rd minute.

It is the third time that Pachuca win the tournament, after victories in 2007 and 2008. Last week, the trophy was won by Atlante.

The five last editions of the CONCACAF Champions League were won by Mexican sides. In four of these five, the losing finalists were also Mexican.
