UEFA Women's Championship 2009

Germany are just one victory away from winning the UEFA Women's Championship for the fifth time in a row, after a 3-1 semi final win over Norway this Monday.

It was not at all an easy event for the Germans though, as Norway took the lead after ten minutes in Helsinki. A corner kick from Ingvild Stensland was headed in at the far post by Isabell Herlovsen.

The Germans finally levelled one minute before the hour mark, when Simone Laudehr converted a cross from Melanie Behringer. Two minutes later, Laudehr provided the assist for Celia Okoyino da Mbabi to complete the turn-around.

The third and final German goal came in the third minute of injury time and was scored by Fatmire Bajramaj.

Germany haven't lost a UEFA Women's Championship game since 1993, and won six of the nine tournaments that were played since 1984. England, Germany's opponents in the final, have never won the tournament but did finish second to Sweden in 1984.
