THE HAGUE (AFP) - Former England coach Steven McClaren has extended his contract with Dutch league leaders FC Twente for another season, the club announced on Tuesday.
"The club and 48-year-old McClaren have reached agreement over a new contract until mid-2011," FC Twente said in a statement on its website.
"Steve McClaren is now in his second season with FC Twente."
Both parties were "very enthusiastic" about the extension, said the statement.
"Steve McClaren is ambitious, FC Twente is ambitious and that fits," it quoted FC Twente president Joop Munsterman as saying.
McClaren left as coach of England after the national team failed to reach the Euro 2008 finals.
FC Twente is based in Enschede in the eastern Netherlands.
