Eredivisie leaders FC Twente left it until late to score a winning goal against defending champions AZ Alkmaar, winning the Dutch top clash 3-2.
Former AZ midfielder Kenneth Perez put Twente in the lead after 36 minutes, but the away side turned things around through Mounir El Hamdaoui (57th) and an own goal from Peter Wisgerhof three minutes later.
Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz immediately equalized however and Blaise NKufo made it 3-2 near the full time whistle.
PSV struggled to a 1-0 win over Heerenveen at Eindhoven's Philips stadium, where Danko Lazovic scored the only goal of the match with just nine minutes left to play.
Ajax had an easier night against troubled Willem II. Eyong Enoh netted just before the break, and Miralem Sulejmani, Marko Pantelic and Luis Suarez found the target in the second half for a 4-0 victory. Leonardo Veloso conceded a second yellow card for Willem II in minute 80.
