Francesco Totti retired from the national squad after they were crowned world champions in 2006.

Francesco Totti confirms he`s open for a return to the Italy national team. The AS Roma captain announced his retirement from international football in 2006, after the Azurri were crowned world champions in Germany.

`It depends on what my condition will be and on Lippi’s choices,` Totti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

`I owe Lippi so much…`

Totti insisted the decision to quit the national team was caused by his fitness problems. `Il bimbo d`oro` also declared he wanted to concentrate exclusively on his beloved club, Roma.

Since his retirement with Italy, the club icon has kept on performing well for the Romans. This season he already scored seven goals in seven matches.

Lately, Italian media, his club, his manager and even his wife speculated about Totti`s possible return to the national team.

The 33-year-old is currently recovering from a knee injury. He`s still a major doubt for Roma’s trip to Milan next Sunday

Totti, please stay at home. After the 2006 World Cup you have turned your back to the Azzurri. Now that Italy has qualified for South Africa you would like to reap a possible 2nd World Cup Gold Medal for yourself. As far as I'm concerned, you have no more credibility. I hope Lippi feels the way I do.

If Lippi is planning to win the last four games in SA with penalties then better he calls Totti as he rarely misses penalties .
