The Belgian FA has asked FIFA to stop Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini from playing for his club this Saturday.
Fellaini played for his country in the 2-0 win over Turkey this weekend. After that he left the squad for surgery on his wisdom teeth. Therefore, he will miss the Wednesday match against Estonia.
The player and his club believed this compromise was agreed upon before Fellaini received a call-up for the national squad.
However, the Belgian Football Association has denied any knowledge of this, and have urged FIFA to apply its five-day rule appropriately.
Regulations state that should a player miss an international match without permission, he will be unable to participate in any club match for the next five days.
If FIFA agrees with Belgium`s position and bans Fellaini for five days, he won`t be able to play against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
