World Youth Championship 2009

Germany scored in the dying minutes to beat Nigeria 3-2 and advance to the quarter final stage at the World Youth Championship in Egypt.

After a goalless first half at Mubarak International Stadium in Giza, Nigeria went ahead through Danny Uchechi in the 51st minute.

Bjorn Kopplin leveled a minute later but Rabiu Ibrahim restored Nigeria's advantage in the 68th.

Germany had the final say however, despite being a man down following Tobias Kempe's red card in the 64th minute. Mario Vrancic made it 2-2 in the 75th and Kopplin netted the winning goal in the last minute of regular time, 3-2.

The Germans now face Brazil in a top level quarter final clash on Sunday, October 10.

The Nigerians were a little naive in conceding, when they were playing against a 10-man Germany.

Having said that, the Germans played well and it will be interesting to watch the quarter-final match against Brazil.

point is the nigerian defence should be investigated for match fixing. the manner they let in the goals is somewhat suspicious. the repetitive trend is just too much to be real- defence seemed heavily tanked.

Pato01,

Are you saying that the Germans bribed the Nigerian defense players ? I find that difficult to believe.

And if not the Germans, who then ?

Pato01, I'm sorry but I don't buy your "match fixing" bit. Germany's victory proves once more that good teams find a way to win even in adversities.

Why nigerian coach waited 7 minutes to replace injured Oralesi when he was out of pitch(in that time Vrancic scored goal) and few minutes waited to replace injured Edet.

After germans red card and goal from Ibrahim 2-1, nigerians think they are sure for next round but like always german are germans and they play until last whistle and go for win, deja vu. Nigerians mentaly are still ready for winning against great football country's.
