Ajax Amsterdam earned their second 5-1 league win in row. After last week's crushing of Heerenveen, Martin Jol's men were now much too strong for Vitesse.
Arnhem-based Vitesse had a dream start against Ajax, as Dalibor Stevanovic scored the opening goal after just four minutes.
But Vitesse did not expect the skills of Marko Pantelic, who netted a hat-trick with goals in minutes 15, 19 and 50.
Kennedy Bakircioglu made it 1-4 in minute 69, and Ismail Aissati netted the fifth and final away goal four minutes later.
As such, third-placed Ajax make sure that the gap with leaders Twente is no bigger than six points.
Feyenoord, currently fourth in the Eredivisie, struggled to a 0-2 win at ADO Den Haag. Defender Ron Vlaar put Mario Been's side ahead after 23 minutes, and Andwele Slory doubled the advantage in the dying minutes.
