Ibrahimovic criticises Serie A

18 November 2009 09:55

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: happy at the Camp Nou.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is satisfied with his move from Inter Milan to Barcelona. The Swedish striker believes that the Spanish football mentality fits him better than the Italian while he also thinks that the Serie A is too politicised.

"In Italy, the league is very hard. It's very difficult to play in as an attacker," Ibrahimovic told La Vanguardia. It's another game, another mentality."

"I wouldn't say it's 100 per cent focused on defence, but they want to be certain before attacking and generally run less risks," the 28-year-old hitman added. "In Spain you take more risks, because you want to score more goals. It's another culture. The spectacle comes first here."

In Italy, Ibrahimovic was bothered by the media, who have their own, preferred teams. "When I won the scudetto with Juventus, Tuttosport was very happy and La Gazzetta dello Sport was angry.

"When I won it with Inter, the opposite happened. It's all politics."

Ibra is burning bridges. I think that if he goes to England, he will bad mouth Spain. I'm not involved in politics but I was very happy when AC Milan won the Scudetto and angry when Inter won it.

Each leagues have their own distinctive attractions. However, it is obvious that the football in Italy is more defensive than football in Spain. Ibra is a striker, so, it is normal for him to prefer Spain over Italy.

He is very physical player. I bet he would enjoy in England, as the football in England is very physical.

Ibra is not very intelligent and a little ungrateful. After all, it is thanks to Serie A and Italian football that he got rich and became famous.

But what goes around, comes around. Inter were right in getting rid of him and Barca will also realise, sooner rather than later, that he's highly overrated.

Giorgio, I have to agree with you, Ibra is a good player but not a great one, and I have never ever seen him once turn up at a big game!

Tonto and Giorgio,

Your critics against Ibra are totally uncalled for and not justified at all. He played for 70 games for Juventus and scored 23 goals, for Inter he played 88 times, scoring 57 times, which was perfect record for a striker.

I am not saying he is the best striker, but surely he is much more better than Inter pair Milito and Eto'o, or, any AC Milan and Juventus strikers.

Ibra said Spanish league is more attacking than Italian league, so for that reason, he prefers Spanish league over Italian league. Nothing wrong with that. I think you, two, are little bit biased towards Ibra.

Only couple of weeks ago english Capello slandered Italian league, and "somehow" you, two, defended Capello. Isn't it hypocrisy?

Regarding his character; who is perfect charactered footballer, a role model for younger generation, nowadays? Liverpool's diving diva captain, Gerrard, Man Utd's bad mouth Rooney, maybe Inter's unfaithful Eto'o? Who?

Newty,

Ibra scored many goals in Italy, won the Italian league. He also scored so far 7 goals for Barcelona (in his first season). How can you say he is over-rated and never seen him once turn up at a big game? I think you did not watch him enough to judge him. I can assure you, he is much more better striker than Rooney and Berbatov....

Avi82, you quoted:

"Ibra scored many goals in Italy, won the Italian league . . . I can assure you, he is much more better striker than Rooney and Berbatov . . . "

In that case, Ibra should be more considerate of Italy which made him famous. An old proverb says: “Never bite the hand that feeds you (In Ibra case: never bite the hand that fed you.) Get the idea?

Tontodonati, you quoted:

"In that case, Ibra should be more considerate of Italy which made him famous........"

YOU'RE WRONG, INTER made Ibra famous NOT ITALY. Get the idea?

By the way, i don't believe in an old proverb says: “Never bite the hand that feeds you". I would prefer the modern proverb says: "Always Outshine The Hand That Feeds You"

Come on, Tonto,

You are very biased towards Ibra. He is one of the best strikers all over the world. He just meant Spanish league is more attacking than Italian league. Nothinh more. Just because of that you are against him. It does not make any SENSE....

Couple of weeks ago, Capello actually slandered Italian football. Capello insulted whole Italy with his lies and accusations. You have stood for Capello. And now, just because Ibra prefers Spanish league, you are against him. Shame on you!...

Soccerwinner,

Very well said. I have never thought you are a philosopher, too... very impresive...

Mark,

On the big, important, matches, Ibra's teammates invariably have to send out a search party for him, because he's nowhere to be found.

Ibra has a small heart, but many people haven't realised it. As you say, he's a good player, but not a great one. And in spite of what some people think or say, Ibra is difinitely not Ballon D'Or material.

soccerwinner, the only thing that surprised me about your reply is that you actually understood the message I was trying to convey!

Avi82, Capello spoke the truth, Ibra did not!

Avi82

19 November 2009 15:14

Tonto,

Capello claimed Italian football of being ruined by diving and run by the Ultras. He said in Italy divers are praised but in England they were jeered. So Italian football is based on cheat, diving etc, but English football is for angels.... And you beleive this crap...

On the contrary, Ibra claims Spanish football is more attractive than Italian football, and you do NOT agree with him. does not make any sense to me, sorry...

I am personally really disappointed with your contradictive comments. and very surprised.... this is not really you...

I never liked Ibra but I think he didn't say something wrong . He is an attacker and any attacker would love to play where coaches let players to take risks . There are many different football styles and Ibra expressed his choice as an attacker , that should not be taken as a competition between Serie A and our Liga .

Giorgio's comments are nothing more than a joke, he used to say Ibra is a great player and will not leave Inter , but now he changed again his mind like always . Now Ibra is useless hehe :)

Holly,

Actually, your comments are nothing but a joke, as per usual.

I never said that Ibra is a great player and I said it right from the start that Inter were right in letting him go. I challenge you to find one of my posts in which I stated that Ibra is great !!!

I said it once before that you have a conveniently short memory, when it suits you !!!

newtonheath1878

20 November 2009 10:40

Avi, as I said, I think Ibra is a good player not a great one. I have watched him play many, many times and he is without question a very good centre forward but great ones turn up during and influence big games a thing Ibra has never done!

veljo1

20 November 2009 12:41

Inter sold Ibra and bought 8 new players. That is a ratio - that is how good is Ibra; same as 8 well established players together. He won himself three championships for Inter. People who understand the game of football, also can see that about four-five defenders are on Ibra's back on all "big" games so Ibra’s teammates are miraculously scoring more goals being wide open in front of goal. The football is complex sport not easy to understand and the “play” without ball is sometimes more important than play with the ball.

newtonheath1878

20 November 2009 17:09

The thing is veljo that in the “big matches” that most people will be referring to are games in the champions league when Ibra as come up against the cream from other leagues, he quite simply hasn’t been an influence as his on the ball play had been disappointing and his supposed non ball play didn’t lead to that much success for Inter.

Nobody is disputing that Ibra is a good player but he hasn’t pulled anything out of the hat as yet to be regarded a great player!

Avi82

20 November 2009 20:44

Newty,

How do you know it? Ibra did not win the Champions League, so what?

Maradona has never won it, as well. Rooney won it, so he is better than Maradona, Zico, Boniek etc?

Can you name any striker better than him?
